Welcome to my Lille by Philippe Vasseur

Le 27 November 2012 par A la une

Philippe Vasseur is President of three powerful organisations in the Lille Region; the International Chamber of Commerce; the Réseau Alliances & World Forum Lille; and the Crédit Mutuel for the North. He was born in the Pas de Calais and worked in Paris for many years. But he studied journalism in Lille, got married here and now lives very happily in Lille …

Lille for me means…
…many things: a city of culture, a logistics & communication centre; a national and international shop window for France; a region with many commercial, industrial and academic activities which add value and have high intellectual content…

Lille is a trading metropolis at the heart of Europe. Its strategic position at the centre of the Brussels-London-Paris triangle allows the city to maximise its potential as a hub for transport, commerce and innovation and provides an outlet for its dynamism.

Meetings & events are important to Lille…
…They are part of the city´s dynamics. They also provide an opportunity for Lille to put on show its savoir faire and to promote the region’s image. We have the strategic will to develop this type of business travel and economic tourism which is the reason behind so much public and private sector investment in our infrastructure and the quality of service we offer companies and associations.

Looking to the future…
…Lille must anticipate and be at the heart of tomorrow’s changes and information exchanges. It means we have to continue to deliver top quality education and training with the accent on research & innovation, ensuring even closer cooperation between the private sector and our universities.

To achieve this, the region must capitalise on its 20 specialist research & innovation clusters which represent such important development potential. We have to start building Lille’s dynamic future now…today.
