“The Nord-Pas de Calais region was faced with the challenge of organising Euroskills for the first time in France. The challenge was met with success, thanks to the involvement of Lille Grand Palais. The European skills competition was a major event, attracting more than 100,000 visitors over three days. All our partners involved in the promotion of vocational skills and training were present.
The objective for our region was not just the success of the contest itself, it was also about fighting against stereotypes: vocational training is not just for those who don’t do well at school! Above all, it’s a different way to learn, through hands-on interaction with a tutor. It’s also about taking responsibility for employees, honouring commitments and meeting the demanding pace of a triple role: that of apprentice, employee and citizen!
I am convinced that EuroSkills will remain etched in the minds of the 30,000 students who came to discover a vocation and support the French team. Finally, I want to acknowledge the massive mobilization of all our partners, a true keystone of this competition! ” – Christophe PILCH, Vice President of the NPDC Regional Council, in charge of apprenticeship.
