“The Nord-Pas de Calais region took up the challenge of organising  the Euroskills for the first time in France . A challenge raised thanks to the  involvement of Lille Grand Palais. This European competition was a highlight, gathering over 100,000 visitors over 3 days. All the partners working for the promotion of trades and professional training have responded.

The challenge for our region exceeded the simple success of the competition. It was also a question of fighting against the ideas received: No, apprenticeships are not just for those who don’t do well at school! Apprenticeships are above all a way to learn differently, with the interaction of your tutor. It is also to take responsibility as an employee, to keep one’s commitments and to lead the demanding rhythm of a triple life: that of apprentice, worker and citizen!

I am convinced that these Euroskills will remain engraved in the minds of the 30,000 schoolchildren who came to discover a profession and support the French team. Finally, I would like to salute the massive mobilisation of all our partners, the true keystone of this competition! “ – Christophe PILCH
